Boogy on down to P-Town

I am excited to be working with Dottie and Julie on their disco-licious June wedding. I love hip, new style and I love Provincetown, big surprise right? I think the whole idea of disco done in a modern, hip and fun way is a perfect backdrop for getting down and celebrating the love of these two, totally cool women. (singing) CELEBRATION, come on !

They set the trend and color in their Save the Date, which I love. It was totally easy for me to come up with a sketch to show off their style using the pattern and color which is so hip and fresh and perfect for the deck of The Crown and Anchor in June. Now we are on to dresses. I love the idea of Halston inspired looks, long clean lines, hoop earrings and updated hairstyles that draw inspiration from that oh, so, groovy time in American History.

We are having a ball running through all of the details. I am sure that it will all come together and be the celebration of their lives. Congratulations ! Dottie and Julie and thank you for having me as part of your wedding.

Hall of Fame Wedding at The Liberty Hotel

I have to admit, I had no idea who Jim Rice was, so when his daughter Carissa called and said that she was impressed with me answering my own phone and wanted to hire me to do her wedding, I smiled and planned a meeting with her mom and dad to get things under way. I had no idea that her Dad was totally famous, especially here in Boston and that he was about to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. I am always impressed with great achievements but to be totally honest I am way more excited about gorgeous diva gals and planning their weddings than I will ever be about baseball. I think that Carissa and her parents appreciate that. We are having a great time planning the details for her summer 2010 wedding and have chosen the oh, so chic Liberty Hotel, one of the leading hotels of the world and a former Boston's jailhouse as the venue for the wedding.

"The ultimate union of historic influence and contemporary design, this luxury hotel in Boston is inspired by a sophisticated interior decor that integrates with the architecture’s beautiful simplicity. Echoing the stone facade, reception desks are punctuated with a panel of granite warmed by a surrounding concentric panel of mahogany woods. Throughout the public areas, American colonial prints, enlarged and rendered in historic colors such as maroon, gray and purple, provide a fresh take on a traditional look, while bold geometric carpets in rich hues of purple and yellow are reminiscent of New England window panes and the friezes of traditional doors. Captivating in every sense of the word, The Liberty Hotel promises an unforgettable guest experience in a unique setting second to none. "

Carissa and Andrew's ceremony will have the aisle defined by gorgeous mounds of rich summer color and lots of candles. They will be married against a display of mango gold calla lilies which will look amazing displayed against a modern hedge of hydrangea and south American roses.
My team and I will turn the room over while the bride and groom enjoy cocktails with their guests. This is never an easy task, but with my "A" team and the nimble hands of the Liberty staff, I have every confidence in the world that we will be able to turn Carissa's reception into the modern, sophisticated and chic event that she hopes it will be.

I have brought in Boston's best to help me with this event. I am so happy that I will have the incredible photography duo of Person and Killian Photography there to capture every amazing detail from behind their lens.

I am totally excited about creating a lounge around the dance floor. Some guests will be able to chill out, while others shake their booty on the dance floor. I will use sleek benches in deep red leather along with wooden cocktail tables to create a totally cozy, hip and romantic vibe.
We will be having both the ceremony and the reception in the main ball room of the hotel. The carpet defines the colorway in this room as it does through out the rest of the hotel. It would be such a design mistake to move away from the historically bold color and pattern, so instead I have taken it to new levels in my design for Carissa's big day. We will be challenged to turn this room over while the bride and groom enjoy cocktails from the lofty perch high above the hotel lobby. With my A team on hand, I am sure that we will hit it right out of the park.

There are so many incredible details to the hotel, done in such an incredible way, that it is almost easy to be inspired. Every detail, every service standard has exceeded my expectations. My absolute favorite, to die for detail is the "Solitary Confinement" notes with keys that are left on the door when one wants to be alone. They take jailhouse and architectural detail and marry the two to perfection. If the hotel finds one of these missing, it will be framed in my office as a reminder of this awesome couple's wedding and a truly fantastic hotel.
If there standard is for me to "be captivated", then I am. We are in for a wedding that Boston will not soon forget. Congratulations Carissa and Andrew, I can hardly wait for your big day.

Season Opener at WCCC in Plymouth

The wedding season is just around the corner. It is a gorgeous spring day, and this morning when I filled my studio with fresh flowers for the wedding Kelli and Matt, I was excited to move away from this dark winter with her floral style. We have chosen a fresh colorway for spring and I look forward to putting together her look in shades of pinks and corals with accents of sea blue. Her reception will be held at the beautiful White Cliff's Country Club in Plymouth, MA. It is literally on an amazing cliff that over looks the water.

The guests tables will be mounded with flowers flown in from Holland and South America and when finished, will have a total luxe look. For the cocktail area I have chosen a more modern, chic look . Gorgeous callas and tulips in her signature shades will look awesome displayed in my various collection of glassware.

We have chosen to display all of these gorgeous flowers on sumptuous linens in both a pin tuck and shimmer in our signature sea blue. I can see it already. We are in for an stunner. I will be sure to publish photos of the wedding and I look forward to telling the story of this gorgeous bride and her handsome groom.

Fall Floral Style at The Acoaxet Club

I am excited to have all the details together for an amazing fall wedding to be held at The Acoaxet Club right down the street in lovely Westport. My bride Kristen is a European beauty and her family is from Portugal, so it is no surprise that she has chosen to wear glamorous San Patrick on her wedding day. She introduced me to this amazing Spanish designer and I can hardly wait to see her walk down the aisle in her amazing gown and beaded jacket, holding the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers.
I would so love to show off her gown, but of course it is bad luck to see the bride's dress before the big day. I have had a chance to flip through the website of this oh so chic designer, and I am totally in love with each and every gown for different reasons. Is it bad for me to imagine my self whirling around in these dresses? Amazing Site!
Of course, I can hardly wait to surround this beauty with flowers on her special day. In her gown she will look stunning against backdrop of sumptuous, rich flowers in pale ivories with touches of deep burnt orange and Nantucket red. I think that little touch of fall color will be just right.

Bringing Hollywood to Boston

I am so excited that I have been asked along with my dear friend Lauren Killian, to be a panelist at a high-end marketing presentation this spring in Boston. Chad Michael Peters, my company and Person and Killian photography are taking the market by storm to bring high fashion and an amazing eye to the world of weddings. We are both excited to share our inside scoop of this glamorous world and are flattered to sit on this prestigious panel.
I am equally flattered to be working on the style of this event. I have already hit the sketch board and can hardly wait to show off my ideas for this Old Hollywood inspired event. This year the presentation will be held at the brand new and so modernly chic, Battery Wharf Hotel on April 9, 2009. We look forward to knocking their socks off !

" The Godfather" Themed Dinner Party

Over the past year and a half, I have auctioned off themed dinner parties at my home to local charities. I am amazed that in this year and a half, I have helped raise close to $17,000.00 for local charities including The New Bedford Art Museum, The New Bedford Whaling Museum, The Nativity Prepatory School, Community Outreach and South Coast Hospitals Group. I always love a bit of creative inspiration and of course I love good movies and good wine, so it was easy to inspire a party from my favorite, "The Godfather". To read more about the details and menu that made this party a bloody smash please click here.

Decorating Inspiration

I believe that rugs are the soul of a room, especially wool rugs. I have spent time with Tibetan refugees who escaped persecution over the mountains into Nepal. These wonderful people make their living hand weaving the most incredible rugs. Sitting together, singing ancient songs that move their hands and hearts to tell the most magnificent stories of color that you can imagine. I am lucky enough to have hand carried some of these rugs and weavings home as a constant reminder of the gentle souls of the weavers and their incredible craft.

If you can afford it, wool rugs are a good investment from their durability to their ease of cleaning. So often in my world of decorating, they provide inspiration for a room’s complete look. I work within a range of natural color drawing out and duplicating patterns and motifs that might be found within the rug. I totally love the pops of hidden color that so many tribal motif rugs are known for.

We are lucky today to have so many good resources for factory made knock offs of these cherished originals. As it is not easy to furnish a home all at once and we have to make our homes attractive on the budgets that we have. For a lot of look, for a whole lot less, try mixing natural sisal rugs among your heavier wools. They compliment each other well, as there is a consistency in their natural fiber and natural color. The bindings of these natural rugs provide a wonderful way to add a border, or pop of color to brighten the room.

Watch The NBC Ten Wedding Giveaway February 13Th at 11:00 a.m.

I love an inside peek into the world of TV, who doesn't right ? It was no surprise that I jumped to work with Providence affiliate NBC Ten's "Wedding Give Away". I was part of an exclusive list of vendors who came together to give one lucky couple the wedding of their dreams. The handsome couple were married on January 16Th at The Crowne Plaza in Warwick, Rhode Island. Along with a slew of amazing vendors, my crew and I had a great time working on this television project. Look for the airing of this show on February 13Th, 2009 at eleven in the morning on WJAR Channel Ten.

CMP Goes Hollywood

I am so psyched to have been chosen as the Wedding Stylist on a national reality show being produced by the The CW Network. I thought seeing the America's Next Top Model girls and both Ms. Jay's by the pool at Caesar's Palace was a thrill. This certainly tops that. While I would love to go to Hollywood to film, it is exciting to have Hollywood building a presence in our own back yards here in Massachusetts.

While I can't reveal the details behind the show, I can give you an inside peek as to what the wedding will look like. We will be filming at the famed Fairmont Copley Hotel in the Back Bay of Boston. What an amazing hotel. I love the history, the grandeur and all of the gorgeous chandeliers. My favorite part of the hotel is the gorgeous pooch in the front lobby. Catie Copley, a gorgeous lab with a stunning fur coat that greets each and every guest with a smile. Maybe she can be the flower girl? Love it.

You won't believe what this costs

I was asked this week to submit ideas to Boston Bride Magazine for the cheapest, best looking table top ideas, that can be made at home.

Being an yankee at heart, I was thrilled at the chance to make cheap, chic.

First I hit Building 19 and found a ton of glass containers that I thought would make great candle holders. I gathered the glass containers in varying sizes to form a nice cluster. I love the basket weave of the smaller votive holder. Very Nantucket Basket. I used scaps of ribbon and shells that I gathered on the beach to dress up the taller pillar candle holder. I then took the rest of the shells and gathered them around the base of the cluster. Alone, I think that it looks really great and the price can't be beat. The candles and glassware cost $8.00. The cluster on a cocktail table alone at a seaside wedding would be so sweet.

I used the cluster of candles and shells along with a floral arrangement for a guest table arrangment. I simply arranged the flowers that I picked up at the local Stop and Shop with a bit of greenery in a vase that I picked up at the Christmas Tree Shop. Total cost $9.25. It is hard to believe that a $8.00 cocktail table arrangement and $17.25 per guest table could look so good.

Save the Date for Chatham Bars Inn

The new year brings so many creative projects for me to think about. I am so flattered to be hired by a bride and her family as their wedding designer and planner for a gorgeous wedding at The Chatham Bars Inn. I am busy working on the flowers and decor and some of the designs for the print material.
I just finished the proof of the save the date using an original sketch that the bride commissioned me to draw. We decided that it would be a great way to pull in an elegant, romantic seaside touch. I love it and I am thrilled to hear that the family loves it as well. Now to send the proof off to the printers. I can hardly wait to see and touch them.

Happy New Year

With 2009 here, I have an excitement that I have not had in a long time. Last year had so much for us to digest, that is just has to get better this year.....right? I know that I have had my nose to the grindstone as of late and I am excited to show you what I have been working on. 2009 will bring so many changes to my company. A new address for my offices, a new website, and a move north into the Boston markets for the many services that I offer as a company.
I am excited to cheer in the New Year and send my wishes to all of you for a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous 2009.
